Extatosoma Tiaratum

Everybody likes this one. Extatos are probably the most popular stick insect amongst breeders. And they look very spectacular
indeed !
They live in Australia, so they like warm dry places.
I feed them rose plant and bramble.
Some are brown, red or even green. white ones (albino) are very rare.
The female grows up to 14 cm, and often curles her body like a scorpion. She has many spikes on her leggs and abdomen.
She's a real beauty !
The males are a lot smaller and lighter, and they can fly pretty well if they get stressed.
If the female doesn't find a mate, she can still lay eggs, like most insects. They will hatch, but all will be females.
The youngsters that come out of the eggs look like ants, they are very fast !
Extatos can live up to a year.
At this moment, I no longer keep this species.
My last female died of old age a while ago. They are fun, but for now, I stick with easier species because I am busy with
my studies.
